Role:
As a Senior Engineer, you will act as the company’s expert in Instrumentation and SCADA Engineering. You’ll work across various offshore renewables projects, and you’ll assist the Dept Manager in supervising and training staff. Your focus will be to prepare and update SCADA, Telecom, and Instrumentation deliverables on offshore wind projects. You will have experience in offshore wind SCADA, Telecom and Instrument systems and be capable of contributing to many areas as part of a small project team, originating documentation and working with minimum supervision and external input.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- To ensure the quality of work undertaken by themselves and others is commensurate with the goal of the activity considering the constraints of time and budget
- To support with competency the Engineering Design of SCADA, Instrument & Telecom Systems for Offshore Wind Farm Installations, from Concept phase to Detail Design, actively participating in the production of Project Deliverables and Discipline Meetings
- Design of SCADA systems and fibre optic networks for wind farms
- Design of condition monitoring, F&G and control systems as applicable to offshore wind farms
- Coordinate engineering activities with other interested parties
- Represent DORIS with Clients on technical matters
- Prepare and update technical specifications and data sheets
- Prepare and issue technical reports
- Prepare and issue Enquiry Documentation
- Technical Bid analysis of SCADA, Telecom and Instrument equipment and materials for Offshore Wind Farms
- Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs)
- Assist with the preparation of budget estimates (materials and manhours)
- Review Project Documents produced by third parties
- Direct and lead other junior engineers and designers as required
Qualifications/ Experience:
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Instrument or Telecom Engineering combined with 5+ years of professional experience in design and engineering. Candidate must be registered with an Engineering Council or equivalent and preferably a Chartered Engineer
- At least 5 years of relevant working experience working on offshore wind farms and WTG SCADA
- Excellent communication skills at all levels, including people management, and both written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in Offshore Windfarms HV and WTG SCADA systems and their infrastructure as well as in control systems, automation, SCADA, PLC’s, RTU’s and IED’s
- Experience in some of the most used Industrial Communication Protocols (especially OPC-family, IEC-104, Modbus and MMS)
- Knowledge of Communication Systems commonly used in Offshore Windfarms (Tetra, VHF, 4G, IP Telephony)
- Ability to carry on risk analysis and mitigation plans
- Capability to handle multiple assignments as needed and plan them dependent on project priority
