Role:

The Engineering Manager is responsible for managing and monitoring the Engineering activities, providing engineering management services across DORIS UK’s Conventional, New Energies, and Renewables projects.

As the Engineering Manager, you will be a crucial contributor in shaping the strategic direction for DORIS UK’s technical offering. This is a varied role requiring a mix of work acquisition, project delivery, team direction and team development working across the UK and supporting projects internationally.

Reporting to the Vice President DORIS UK this role will focus on leading the engineering consultancy disciplines in the delivery of engineering services across the project lifecycle (feasibility and concept design, pre-FEED, FEED, Detailed Design) and in a range of applications including greenfield, brownfield, and owners engineering.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Manage and provide day to day leadership to the engineering leadership team
  • In conjunction with the engineering discipline managers, project managers and the project services team, promote and maintain an engineering execution plan defining the manpower requirements for the execution of project engineering on projects and tenders
  • Support the Heads of Execution for commercial and strategic decision-making and preparation of commercial submissions (pre-qualifications, tenderers and similar) and strategic plans
  • Provide support, pastoral care and technical leadership to the engineering team, including mentoring and training
  • Championing continuous improvement across engineering to encourage robust working behaviours to achieve greater efficiencies, strong delivery and a team ethos
  • Represent DORIS UK internally and externally and build collaborative relationships with other group companies and clients
  • Develop and implement methods to effectively interface engineering activities across offices, joint venture partners, third party engineering services and clients
  • Implement Value Improving Practices, as appropriate, to improve the quality of project execution or the value of project outcomes
  • Proactively and continuously identify engineering issues and risks and address and implement mitigations

Safety and Environmental Related Tasks

  • Leading by example to maintain a strong SHEQ culture through visible safety leadership
  • Ensure the implementation of adequate Health, Safety and Environmental work practices, procedures, and methods to meet all statutory requirements and the Company SHEQ Management System
  • Implement quality assurance methods in accordance with the Quality Management System
  • Promote inherent safety design

Qualifications/Experience:

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Mechanical / Structural / Civil Engineering degree / MEng or equivalent. Chartered Engineer status
  • Offshore Wind engineering or Oil and Gas engineering experience
  • Structural engineering

Advantage to have any of the following:

  • Owner’s Engineer, Package Management, Engineering Management or Contract Management experience
  • Offshore wind turbine foundation ( Jackets / Monopiles/ Floating)
  • Steel Structures eg Topsides, Steel towers, Jackets
  • Geotechnical

Competencies & Soft Skills:

  • Strong track record in successful engineering management in either Oil and Gas or offshore wind projects
  • Results-oriented and Commercial mindset, ability to analyse and summarize complex topics and aggregate decision-relevant information to convey messages clearly and concisely
  • Proven experience, ability to build and develop high performance teams and to motivate, acting comfortably in cross-cultural teams, collaborating across country boundaries with a sense of diversity and inclusion
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with people on different levels of hierarchy, different backgrounds and cultures, must be a team player
  • Excellent understanding of technical analysis and specifically of competitive drivers that can help winning projects in very competitive tender environments
  • Interdisciplinary management experience
  • Have an excellent understanding of the key engineering interfaces in offshore projects and how these can be managed
  • Strong understanding of the process of developing and constructing offshore structures
  • Multi-tasking with ability to self-manage workloads and work-loads of others to meet agreed timescales for delivery
  • Experience with managing stakeholders and clients
  • Track record of project delivery in Europe, US and APAC
  • Demonstrable flexibility and ability to adapt to changing project-related priorities and deliver high quality, accurate work within required deadlines
  • Commercial awareness
  • Excellent awareness of environmental and sustainability issues
  • Strong work ethic
  • Abides by the Code of Business Conduct and business ethics
  • Confident and outgoing individual
  • Flexible to travel in UK and working away from base office
